IT'S THE LYRICS AND MELODY THAT COUNT!

ALL THE ALBUMS BELOW ARE AVAILABLE ON MOST EVERY ONLINE PLATFORM THAT MATTERS.

HAPPY LISTENING!!

"PRETTY WRAPPING"

Released in January 2024, this album contains 9 songs written 35-37 years ago, and 8 brand new songs.  This album and the next were performed during 2023 as I was learning GarageBand.  This is the "softer" of the two albums released together in January.  It is more folk and pop oriented, with very little techno feel.  There are many "story songs," as well as character pieces - even some comedy/irony thrown in.  I'll leave you to guess what I wrote as a much younger man and what is recent.

"ROUGH EDGES"

This album was the harder more techno oriented side of the music when I began with GarageBand. Having originally been in on the beginning of the MIDI craze, I will admit to being enamored somewhat with that side of the app.  This led to many synth-based beats and experiments.  There are also some rock oriented pieces.  Again, 10 of the songs are older, or at least older ideas.   There is a little more light stuff here lyrically, and the beats are more complex.  As always, it's the lyrics and melody that count.

"SPICE OF LIFE"
I like to think that my Mother, pictured on the cover art at 19, would have liked many of these songs.  I made a greater attempt to merge the feel of the production with the subject matter of the songs.  I also tried to write a few more "accessible" songs, whatever that means.  Variety is the "Spice of Life" hence the album's name.  All types if music with all sorts of subjects was the idea.  Only 3 "old" songs here with a better production value as I learned more of what the app was capable of.  I think there are a couple of songs here that in an imaginary life could be "hits."
"MONOLOGUE"
As one of the songs says,  "let's stop pretending, let's just get real."  Many of the songs are very personal and deal with thoughts that, while often fleeting, are pretty dark.  There are also some political songs, particularly "Give the People What They Want," that would tell anyone where I stand on the state of things today.  There is only one "old" song here, and all the other songs were written from March to June of 2024.  This album is significantly darker than the others, but we live in dark times.  I am a father, husband, and citizen of the world, and this album reflects all the concerns of those roles in equal measure.  Not for the faint of heart.

I’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU

I'm going to try and take a break from songwriting for awhile to see what I can do about getting the albums actually heard by people.  If you hear any of the songs and are moved by them, or angered by them, or just want to tell me what you think of any of them, please email me at:
